TE KAKANO - THE SEED OF CHANGE
Te Kakano pathway is a community based specialist team of clinicians working in Tamaki Makaurau and hailing from the various regions of Aotearoa.
Established in 2002 the team is supported by and liaises directly with Mana Whenua.
The uniqueness of the Te Kakano service is that it works directly with individuals and their whanau at the “grass roots” level.
Furthermore, it is delivered as part of a comprehensive treatment programme, by primarily Maori clinicians to Maori communities.
The Te Kakano programme is the only indigenous treatment programme in the world that is delivered by indigenous practitioners direct to their own indigenous communities
Our service is designed specifically for Maori and the whanau context. We combine international best practice treatment solutions embedded in a Maori world view.
The Te Kakano adult pathway is for tane and wahine 17 years of age and over.
