Journeys toward lives free from harmful sexual behaviour

FAMILY & WHANAU PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN TREATMENT SUCCESS

Family and whanau members play an important role in the treatment of adults, youth and adolescents for whom sexually harmful behaviour is a problem, and in the lives of children with sexually problematic behaviours.

SAFE recognises the importance of family and whanau support for anyone attending our treatment services. At various stages of the treatment pathway, family and whanau members are invited along to share their experiences with others who are supporting individuals engaged in treatment.

Opportunities for this include:

  • Attendance at family therapy sessions
  • Attendance at Noho Marae ( Te Kakano - Maori Pathway)
  • Attendance at Education Days (Adult Pathway)
  • Attendance at    (Amanaki Pasifika - Pasifika Pathway)
  • Involvement in safety planning to ensure members of your family and whanau are SAFE during treatment and beyond
